June CAS Meeting
June 1 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
“Wallops Flight Facility’s Capabilities in Support of Science“
Dave Pierce
Director of Wallops Flight Facility
Dave Pierce, Director of Wallops Flight Facility, will provide an overview of the suborbital and orbital capabilities unique to Wallops Flight Facility. Wallops Fight Facility manages suborbital carriers, including piloted aircraft and unamend aircraft systems, sounding rockets, scientific balloons, along with CubeSats and small International Space Station payloads, to provide frequent flight opportunities for NASA science, technology, and education investigations. Wallops Flight Facility continues to integrate launch range and airfields to increase access to space for the “new space” suborbital and orbital launch model through the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport to enable NASA missions. The use of these agile, cost effective and capable research platforms are part of the growing trend in pursing space and Earth science.
The meeting this month will be a Hybrid Meeting. We will meet in person at the University of Virginia’s McCormick Observatory and the meeting will only be conducted in a Zoom session with Zoom login details sent out to all CAS membership.
