The Fluvanna Middle School Astronomy Club meets on January 13th and 27th and February 10th and 24th – . the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month from approximately 3:15 PM to 5:00 PM. Speakers are needed to make presentations at club meetings and telescopes are also needed for solar and/or night sky observations
CAS plans on having two speakers with 40-minute Astronomy lectures in a classroom environment address two, possibly three classes at Madison HS on January 16th and 17th 2014. One more speaker with an astronomy topic of interest may be needed.
The Locust Grove Middle School Astronomy Club (Orange County) meets on the third Wednesday (January 22, 2014 and February 19, 2014) of the month from approximately 2:40 PM to 4:00 PM. Speakers are needed to make presentations at club meetings and telescopes are also needed for daytime solar and/or night sky observations.
The Greene County Public Library, Stanardsville, VA is conducting an Astronomy Night primarily for Middle and High School students (ages 9 through 16 years) and their parents on February 3, 2014 from approximately 7 PM to 9 PM. Tom Walsh, a former CAS member, would like to have one or two CAS speakers and then have outdoor night sky observations (weather permitting). Speakers are needed to make presentations and member telescopes are also needed for night sky observations.
The Blue Ridge School, Dyke, VA is hosting a CAS Star Party on February 22, 2014. Jamie Bourland, Science Department Chair, would like to have one or two CAS speakers and member telescopes setup for the Star Party.
