CAS Monthly Meeting

June 6, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Free

“Interstellar Travel—Separating Fact From Fiction”
Presented by Ed Walendowski
PVCC Astronomy Professor and CAS Member

This should be a fun topic given that folks are already planning such a mission (robotic sized postage stamps).  This topic will cover the various types of propulsion systems that could be used for such travel and the practicality of carrying human and/or robotic cargo on such a mission.  The goals of such a mission and what would motivate us to undertake such a mission will be discussed.  Ed valiantly stepped in as the presenter this month when a prior arranged speaker could not attend.

We conduct monthly meetings every month at McCormick Observatory starting at 7 pm. There is a featured astronomy speaker, the McCormick 26″ telescope is opened for observing (weather dependent) and sharing of information with other club members/
